Expanding the facility To increase the number of customers among private jet owners and serve these customers better, Jet Aviation decided to expand its facility at Singapore's Seletar Airport. The state-of-the-art hangar provides more workspace as well as a more upscale experience for Jet Aviation's prominent clientele. Tough weather condition & and stringent fire requirements Jet Aviation had high demands on the service life of the door equipment. It needs to withstand Singapore's high heat and an 80 percent average humidity as well as meeting the stringent fire safety requirements of Singapore. The hangar door had to be be both functional and aesthetic since the 5,000 square meter building serves as both workspace and a high-profile showroom. Translucence and corrosion resistance A Megadoor vertical lifting fabric door comprising five sections and measuring 94 x 13.5 meters was installed. The door leaves are made of white translucent PVC fabric for a clean, attractive appearance that lets natural light in. All metal parts have an enhanced corrosion resistant finish. A solid panel is built into the bottom-center section of the door. Incorporated into this panel are two pass doors, allowing personnel to enter and exit the hangar without opening the hangar door itself. Energy efficiency with natural light Energy efficiency is achieved by the translucent fabric's maximization of natural light. When desired, the door height can be adjusted to provide cooling shade inside. For maintenance optimization, the Megadoor system has no ground tracks. Allowing smooth passage for aircrafts in and out of the hangar and eliminating the need to maintain floor rails.
