Thank you, doors.

Automatic doors play a big role in our lives, whether we realize it or not. When coming out of a store with your hands-full, leaving the bathroom, or running late to catch a plane – we’re sure you have been thankful for the convenience of automatic doors. This year, we will be celebrating the first annual Automatic Door Day on March 19th. This day is all about the doors and the automatically awesome things they do for us.

Since the introduction of the first automatic doors in the 1950’s and 1960’s, things have only gotten better since then. In addition to sliding doors, common types of automatic doors include revolving, swing, and ICU doors. Each type of door has their own specific functionality and purpose, but the one thing they have in common is the ease of access they create. Let’s look at some of those benefits:

  • Sliding doors can provide large openings at the front of your buildings entrance welcoming guests with touch-free access and convenience to come and go with large shopping bags, strollers, wheel chairs, etc. They can help provide security against outside threats and weather, as well as keeping your businesses temperature comfortable and providing a pleasing aesthetic.
  • Swing doors can easily be added onto existing manual doors, making them an easy choice for automating doors such as office doors, bathroom doors or hospital corridors. They allow for access throughout your entire facility without ever having to touch a door handle.
  • If you are looking for a grand entrance to make an impact, revolving doors have you covered. They can handle heavy traffic flows, while creating a welcoming and spacious entrance with maximum energy efficiency.
  • ICU doors provide safe and efficient patient care in critical facilities. They allow for doctors, nurses, visitors, patients and equipment to easily be moved around the hospital, while providing the privacy and safety that each patient needs.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has seemed as though automatic solutions have become even more important in creating touch-free access to help stop the spread of germs. A recent study has shown that 68% of Americans now prefer to visit places that have automatic doors. And if that isn’t enough reason to celebrate, we don’t know what is.

Each of these types of automatic doors have endless possibilities when it comes to finding a solution that is right for your business. If you want to see first-hand the benefits of automatic doors, and have your own door to celebrate next #automaticdoorday, we want to hear from you.

So let’s hear if for the doors, and join us in celebrating this March 19th!
