Improved operations at shipyard with translucent fabric door

Pendennis shipyard dry dock bought a hangar door to improve operations, increase business, and save on energy costs.

The existing doors Pendennis shipyard had installed were difficult to open due to corrosion, rust and clogged floor tracks. The shipyard needed an entrance solution that was easy to operate and had a maximum-width clear opening that would resist high winds.

They wanted to make use of natural light and reduce energy costs and their carbon footprint, as well as using their waterfront location to increase its brand recognition.

Withstanding winds of over 100 mph

The installed vertical-lifting hangar door from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is designed to withstand winds of over 100 mph, is easy to operate and its translucent fabric increases natural light into the building, reducing energy costs and enhancing working conditions.

The door gives a clear opening to the full width of the dock and has no floor tracks.

Enhancing the brand

Pendennis placed a logo sized 20 meters x 8 meters on the shipyard door fabric to en-hance its brand allowing anyone entering the Falmouth harbor to see it.
