Trade Marketing Lead

The Trade Marketing Lead is accountable for the success of delivering against the strategy, activity plan and reporting the performance of the marketing efforts in the channel. The individual must be strategic, have excellent commercial acumen and have the ability to influence senior stakeholders in the business. The role has people management responsibility and requires a person who is a leader for the wider business.


The trade channel looks after brands including UNION, Dale Hardware, Excel Architectural Hardware and Jigtech. These brands are sold into builders merchants (Selco, Howdens, Screwfix) and architectural ironmongers. It is a fast-paced channel where we need togenerate high volume demand through base management, dealer distribution, key partner relationships and influencing the end user.

The role sits within the wider Door Hardware Group marketing team. This team is responsible for delivering engaging and compelling marketing to help drive awareness, consideration and sales of the brands and products within the portfolio.


Main Responsibilities and Challenges:

  • Working with the Head of Marketing, bring market insight, business ob
  • jectives and audience needs together into a clear marketing strategy
  • Accountable for driving the delivery of the marketing activity plan and meeting time scales
  • Ability to become expert in audience types, needs and segment. Understand the specific market dynamics and respond to tactical needs whilst delivering the strategy
  • Set clear KPIs to measure success of the activity and report back analytics in a meaningful and clear way with recommendations to optimise
  • Build credible relationships and partner with Sales Directors, be the interface between sales and marketing for the trade channel
  • Lead large-scale strategic projects with many teams and stakeholders involved
  • Responsible for working closely with product team to successfully launch new products to market that are relevant for your channel, must lead the process and the team
  • Campaign creation, delivery, measurement and optimisation to drive awareness and engagement in the market
  • Work closely with EMEA and Group functions to ensure alignment, brand compliance and that we are maximizing group efforts and initiatives
  • Support Head of Marketing with brand strategy and execution
  • Be hands on with the delivery and copy-writing of all marketing activity including promotional and technical literature, customer communications, point of sale, packaging designs, merchandisers, video content, case studies, PR, events, digital content and sales promotions
  • Ensure consistent and optimised communication across end to end customer journeys, including events and content
  • Be the brand guardians and ambassadors, ensuring consistency across all narratives and tone of voice through to all visual touchpoints 
  • Maintain and optimise the website(s) in the channel, work closely with the digital lead to implement developments and gain insights to improve customer experience
  • Devise social media content strategies for your channel that ladder to the brands key themes




  • An established marketer with a track-record of delivering strategic and results-driven marketing
  • High competence in influencing and engaging senior key stakeholders
  • Proven ability in creating strategy decks and strong commercial acumen
  • Experience in people management, leading and mentoring others
  • Budget and spend management experience
  • Proven ability to lead and take products from proposition to launched in the market
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects, under pressure and to deadlines, with excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Industry experience not essential, but may be advantageous
